What is Bextra? |
Bextra tablets belong to a class of pain reliever drugs which are popularly known as a "nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory" drugs or "NSAID". By slowing down the production of harmful chemical messengers in our body Bextra decrease irritation. Bextra drug is commonly used in the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and painful menstruation and menstrual symptoms. Bextra is typically added to the course of therapy when other drugs fail to fully control a patient's attacks, because this medicine causes less irritation and ulceration of the stomach and intestine and does not get in the way of blood vessels and doesn’t make blood clot. This medicine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

The following precautions should be taken while on Bextra:

Be very cautious while driving car, operating machinery, or performing any similar activity of hazardous nature.

Bextra Dosage |
Follow the directions of your doctor. Bextra is available in market only in tablet form. For the patients of rheumatoid arthritis the usual dosing amount is 10 mg once daily, and for the dysmenorrhea patients the quantity of dose is 20mg daily. You may take this medicine in empty or full stomach. Bextra tablets may be taken in any time of the day. You can take it in empty or full stomach.

Bextra Missed Dose |
If you miss a dose of Bextra, please do not take double dose in your next dose. In its place, pass over the missed dose and continue your usual dosage as scheduled. Never take 2 doses at once or you may get some fatal results.

Bextra Overdose |
If you have an overdose of Bextra by mistake, please contact your doctor immediately. An overdose of Bextra may cause symptoms like unusually fast or slow heart beat fast breathing, confusion, dizziness, difficulty in breathing, chest pain and may even cause unconsciousness.

Possible food interactions |
If you are taking Bextra, avoid alcohol since then you may either feel dizziness or sleepiness. During the period of medication do not take Glyburide, Diazepam, Phenytoin, Hydrochlorothiazide, Levlen, Naproxen, because with these drugs, the effects of either could be amplify, diminish, or altered. It is especially important that you consult your doctor before combining Bextra with the above mentioned drugs.
